Endogenous TH metabolite 3-iodothyronamine (T1AM) and recently developed thyronamine-like synthetic analogues SG1 and SG2 have emerged as neuroprotective agents. Autophagy has proved to be an effective therapeutic approach for neurodegenerative diseases.
